Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This is an English translation of the German privacy policy (https://yanyandigital.com/datenschutz.html). If the two versions differ, the German version applies.

2. Overview
This privacy policy applies to the app "German Mock Exam" and the website yanyandigital.com. The app works without a user account. We do not run our own server and receive no data about your answers or results – except when you report a mistake in a task yourself (see section 11).
- Your answers, results and settings are stored only locally on your device.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. For this, data is transmitted to Google (see section 4).
- Purchases are handled exclusively by Google Play (see section 6).
- If the app crashes, an anonymous technical crash report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics. You can turn this off (see section 7).
- With your consent, we collect anonymous usage statistics with Google Analytics for Firebase (see section 8).
- If you allow notifications, you receive news via Firebase Cloud Messaging; the practice reminder and the exam countdown are created only on your device (see section 12).
- The app downloads some listening texts as audio files via Cloudflare (see section 13).
3. Data stored locally
The app stores on your device:
- your answers, results and history,
- your settings (e.g. theme, text size, time of the practice reminder and your exam date),
- whether the full version was purchased (so the app also works offline),
- voice recordings from the "Speaking" part (see below).
Voice recordings: if you allow the app to access the microphone, it records your answer during the speaking time in the "Speaking" part, so you can listen to it during the self-assessment. The microphone is used only during this speaking time. Only the latest recording per task is kept. The recordings are not transmitted and are not included in Android backups. You can revoke the microphone permission at any time in the Android settings.
This data does not leave your device. You can delete it at any time: in the app under "Settings > Delete all results" (this also deletes the voice recordings), or completely by clearing the app data in the Android settings or uninstalling the app.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
In the free version we show ads via Google AdMob. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
In particular, the following data may be processed: your device's advertising ID, IP address, device type and operating system, approximate location (derived from the IP address), and information about ads shown and clicked.
Purpose: showing ads, measuring reach and preventing fraud. Personalised ads are shown only if you have consented. Without consent, Google may show limited, non-personalised ads to the extent your choice allows.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG).

- Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses data from partners' apps: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
After you buy the full version, the app no longer shows ads and makes no more ad requests.
5. Consent and privacy settings
On first launch we ask for your consent via the Google User Messaging Platform (IAB TCF standard). Ads are requested only once your choice allows it.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time: "Settings > Privacy settings". A withdrawal applies to the future.
6. Purchases (Google Play)
The full version is offered as a one-time in-app purchase via Google Play. Google handles the payment; we receive no payment data. From Google we only receive the purchase status (e.g. order number, time of purchase, purchase token) to unlock the full version.
The legal basis is the performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The terms and privacy policy of Google Play apply to the payment.
7. Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
To find and fix errors, we use Firebase Crashlytics. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google processes the data on our behalf.
If the app crashes, a crash report is sent with: the technical course of the error (stack trace), device model, Android version, app version, time, free storage and a random installation ID (not the advertising ID). The report also states in which mock exam and exam part the error occurred and whether the full version is active. Your answers, texts and results are not transmitted. The reports are deleted after 90 days.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in an error-free app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time by turning off "Settings > Send crash reports".

8. Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
To understand which features are used and where we can improve the app, we use Google Analytics for Firebase. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
We collect usage events, for example: which screens are opened, which mock exam is started, finished or cancelled (with level, mode and score in percent), playing listening texts, opening the full version page and purchase steps, and changed settings. In addition: a random app instance ID, device model, Android version, app version, language, country/region (derived from the IP address; the IP address is not stored) and the duration and frequency of use. Your answers and texts are not transmitted. The advertising ID is not used for this, and the data is not used for advertising.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG), which you give in the consent dialog on first launch (purpose "Measure content performance" for Google). Without consent, no usage data is collected. You can withdraw your consent under "Settings > Privacy settings" or turn off the statistics under "Settings > Send usage statistics".
The data is deleted after 14 months. This lets us compare usage over a year, for example between exam periods.

9. App configuration and content (Firebase Remote Config, Cloud Storage)
We load some app settings (e.g. which ad formats are shown or whether the full version is offered) via Firebase Remote Config. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google processes the data on our behalf.
A random Firebase installation ID, the app version, language and country and, for technical reasons, the IP address are transmitted. No usage data and no answers are transferred.
The app downloads new or corrected mock exams via Cloud Storage for Firebase (also provided by Google). For technical reasons the IP address is transmitted; no data about you is stored. To protect the content from unauthorised access, Firebase App Check uses the Google Play Integrity API to check whether the request comes from an unmodified app installed via Google Play. Google processes technical information about the app and the device for this.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the app without errors and adapting it without a new update (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
10. Website (yanyandigital.com)
The website is hosted by STRATO AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany, which processes the data on our behalf. When you open a page, technically necessary data is processed, in particular IP address, time, page requested, browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the page and protect it from misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating the website securely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
The website uses no cookies, no analytics or advertising services and loads no content from other servers (fonts are also loaded from our own website).
11. Error reports and contact
With "Fehler in dieser Aufgabe melden" (report a mistake in this task) in the results, you can tell us about a mistake in a task. We receive your description, the task concerned, your answer to it, the app and content version, the device language and the time. You give an e-mail address only if you want us to ask back or reply; it is optional. The reports are stored in Cloud Firestore (Google Firebase, provider Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) in the EU, read only by us and automatically deleted after 12 months at the latest. As with the content, Firebase App Check checks whether the request comes from the genuine app. We use the reports only to fix mistakes and, if applicable, to reply. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in error-free content (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, for the optional e-mail address, your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time by e-mail to us.
If you e-mail us directly, we process your e-mail address and message only to handle your request and delete them once it is resolved.
12. Notifications
If you allow notifications (Android asks on first launch), the app can show you news, a daily practice reminder and a countdown to your exam date. Each can be turned off under "Settings > Notifications", and you can revoke the permission at any time in the Android settings.
The practice reminder and the countdown are created only on your device: the exam date, the time and whether you practised on a given day are not transmitted.
For news (e.g. new mock exams or important updates) we use Firebase Cloud Messaging. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; Google processes the data on our behalf. For this, your device receives a random identifier (registration token), and the app subscribes to general topics ("all" and the language of the app interface). For technical reasons the IP address is transmitted. We send messages only to these topics, not to individual devices, and receive no data about you. If you turn off "News" or revoke the permission, the identifier is deleted. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG), which you give by allowing notifications.
13. Listening texts (audio recordings and text-to-speech)
Some listening texts are recorded with AI voices. The app downloads these recordings via Cloudflare the first time they are played. The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA; Cloudflare processes the data on our behalf, and the files are kept in storage in the EU. For technical reasons the IP address and a Firebase App Check token are transmitted; the token is used to check whether the request comes from the genuine app (see section 9). We store no data about you in the process. The downloaded recordings stay on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the app. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the listening texts (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
All other listening texts are produced with your device's text-to-speech. The processing is done by the text-to-speech app installed on your device according to its settings and privacy terms.
14. Transfers to third countries
Google and Cloudflare may also transfer data to countries outside the EU, in particular to the USA. Both companies are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; standard contractual clauses are also used.
15. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to withdraw a consent you have given at any time. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, for example to have your data deleted, write to us at support@yanyandigital.com. Because the app works without a user account, we only hold your error reports and e-mails to us; we delete them on request. You delete the data on your device yourself (see section 3).
We do not run our own servers. For data that Google processes for advertising, purchases, crash reports, statistics and app configuration, please also contact Google directly.
16. Children
The app is not directed at children under 16.
17. Changes
We update this privacy policy when the app or the legal requirements change. The version shown in the app applies.
